Our fees will be increasing from Monday 14 October 2024.

Twizel Medical Centre relies on a combination of government funding and patient fees to pay our staff, operate our services, and build/maintain our premises to provide those services.

Each year, the government reviews the general practice sector and advises us of two things, how much our government funding is increasing and how much our fees can increase by. These two combined figures must cover all of our operational costs. This year the increase in government funding is much less and does not match the rising costs associated with delivery of services, which means that we need to increase our patient fees much more than we would like to.

We know many families and whānau are struggling with the increased cost of living and we understand the important role we play in providing equitable access to affordable, high-quality primary care.

If you are struggling to pay for your health care, please check with your NP or GP to ask if there are any funding options available for you during your consultation. You could also talk with our reception team who can discuss payment options with you.

Please note that our clinical and reception staff are not responsible for any decision-making regarding fees and negative behaviour towards them regarding changes to fees will not be tolerated.

Twizel Medical Centre has been using various regional and national channels to raise our concerns about the dire need for adequate and sustainable funding for the health care system.

If you would like to express your support for increased funding for general practice (and therefore lower patient fees), we recommend contacting your local Member of Parliament or the Minister of Health, Dr Shane Reti.
